About the Mrs.

Where to start? Well, one of the biggest influences of my writing, thinking, and livelihood would probably point to my Canadian citizenship (definitely one of my proudest attributes)!  I would include it in my resume if it would be given the recognition it truly deserves…

I am a newly married wife of four years (I’m still new until we hit like 15 years in my books). I am also an avid career girl in the realm of construction engineering, recovering DIYer, bordering OCPDer, and as so many would say a bit of a recluse.

My husband is the real writer – undiscovered yet a unique and promising character that baits my very existence with his own. Any passerby would gawk at the differences we so sacredly protect but in our quiet moments we cherish our interdependence for balance and much needed restoration.

We share our contradicting lives with the one and only Chuck Norris and renowned Billy Graham. Chuck religiously guards our keep from his tower between even more importantly napping and bathing. Billy Graham keeps Chuck Norris’ radar in check while chirping us awake every morning at 4am.

Chuck Norris - my hero

For 3 of 5 years of our marriage, we have lived with roommates – first a friend, then my sister, her husband and their three children. Yah – we won’t even delve into that subject right now. Just keep it in mind when I’ve ranted about waking up to my youngest nephew holding my finest jewelry between his chubby sticky fingers…

We have finally moved into our own place again. So very ready than ever to start again with just the two of us. Space and privacy have never been more appreciated!

What else – yes – probably should be around the top but surprisingly it fits just right here. There is a third person in our marriage – the big Guy. Let me just say He is our one and only who listens and is there for us at all times. First hot line to bounce ideas off and confidante to us on an individual basis as well. I will say that He is our core and our marriage would have been over by now without Him. When my husband and I fail (which happens often) we have a common thread that will always remain strong. You want to know more – just read the big book as I’m not going to paraphrase for you.

I have two sisters, and one brother – all married as of this year. They are my best friends, any others I keep close are the dearest to me.  No children outside of Chuck and Billy G – maybe one day – and I’ve been saying that for four years now… My husband and I enjoy traveling above all else. In fact, its the only thing we afford ourselves.

We have been on at least one trip abroad a year since being married and hope to continue this trend for the rest of our lives. And the last small note – we don’t have TV. Yes that’s right, I have no idea about that stupid commercial, or the latest reality show – nor do I care. There are much more interesting subjects that are buried behind the world of entertainment that I plan to explore and divulge to the world blinded by Lady GaGa’s latest horrendous outfit.

Speaking of… Let’s get into the hobbies. I’ll just list them for ease – FASHION, travel, DIY projects, and now hopefully blogging…

I’ve decided to begin writing of my marriage as we have already been to hell and back in only four years. But with each small triumph we grow closer, stronger and less afraid of the trials to come. I want to share these events in the hopes that it will give transparency and courage to those who have braved the biggest challenge of their lives – marriage. The statistics are against us but that doesn’t mean we can’t change them. You too can have a Marriage Against All Odds!

Let’s see where this turns…

I am so excited to start reading your blog! My boyfriend and I are both Christians, heading towards marriage, but we’ve already had our challenges. It’s inspiring to see a young married couple striving to make it work, what’s more, a christian couple at that! God bless you, your marriage and the ministry you may not even be aware of that you’re leading!

Well I am as equally excited that I will be writing for you too! Congratulations on your developing relationship – I pray each day brings a new dynamic to your shared world together. Every relationship presents its own unique challenges and I hope the transparency of my marriage gives you strength when/how/whereever needed! I look forward to hearing from you again :)

Thanks for the pinback, I wish I’d thought of the marriage blog thing. Might be an untapped nitch and such an important one in our modern world.

Perhaps the Holy Spirit is telling us all somthing? Or maybe we are just responding to a need He has already shown us and we just havn’t realized it. God is good, incredible actually!

We’ll keep you guys in our prayers,
    Ken

Marriage is a marathon, not a race! Hang in there…. with patience and humor (and wine) you’ll beat the odds.

Thanks for your comment! I agree – a marathon requiring daily positive thinking, patience and humor (of course!). And the wine, oh the lovely wine… :)

      ~Cheers~

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. What a fascinating concept/theme for your blog – I read alot of motherhood blogs but have yet to find one about marriage, which is so important. I love this: “The odds are against us but that doesn’t mean we can’t change them.” Beautifully put!

      ~Cheers~
